Human Influence on Carbon Oxygen Cycle and Their Unintended Consequences Lesson

Watch the award winning video "Manufactured Landscapes" by Edward Burtynsky and watch the video by NOAA on Marine Debris

Manufactured Landscapes is a feature length documentary (about 90 min long) on the world and work of renowned photographer Edward Burtynsky. This film allows us to meditate on our profound impact on the planet and witness both the epicentres of industrial endeavour and the dumping grounds of its waste. The second video follows our trash from land to water. Both videos are provocative. We are all implicated here, they tell us: there are no easy answers. Both videos continue presenting complexity, without trying to reach simplistic judgements or reductive resolutions. In the process, both try to shift our consciousness about the world and the way we live in it.  The bottom video is called the circular economy whereby we learn to make our technological processes cyclical like nature.

In the discussion forum below please comment on the following three items:
a.  To what degree is closing the industrial cycle loop a benefit.  What information are you getting out of the "closed loop production" concept?
Choose one human activity that has altered the carbon oxygen cycle?  Specify the location on the natural cycling of carbon and explain how its been changed.

c.  Re-think and re-design one solution to your chosen alteration in (b).  Please use a degree of detail in your explanation as to how humans can connect that gap and make their influence cyclical again.

Keep up the great work!!!!
